About

This site contains archives of a portion of Jeff Sakoff’s photographic work. It is specifically designed as an independent vehicle to share this work with his friends, family and fellow artistic collaborators.

None of the images in these archives are computer generated or digitally transformed. Digital manipulations are limited to image corrections i.e., exposure, contrast, color saturation, etc.

When I was asked to provide material for this site, I realized that, as with print publications and gallery exhibitions, a great deal might be lost in the venue’s limitations. For example, dimensions and presentation status are challenges in a web venue. Many images were initially presented in sizes ranging from 4 x 6” to 30 x 60”. Some were framed, others presented in printed book publications, and others archived in print and/or digital form. Obviously, Internet viewing does not correctly allow for these discrepancies. Also, many of the photographs I selected were taken from a series of works.

In some cases, these series numbered in the double digits, and in many, the work spanned decades. Some are still ongoing. A single image from one of these series is, at best, only representative. However, presenting every photo might present loading and viewing challenges and, in some cases, might not be appropriate. It’s also difficult to separate work into groups without seeming to suggest some theme or categorization that was not originally intended.

Considering the above, I suggested the site be divided into several separate archives. The first one contains general examples of work spanning about three decades. The second is archived mounted and framed photos that at one time were either exhibited and/or presented to friends and family in that form. The third and final section contains early work.
