Photographs are an omnipresent feature today. For most of us, however, photographs are "a picture of something."They serve as a method of capturing a remarkable memory of an event or a cherished image of a friend or relative.
The group of work on this site falls into a very different category and needs to be given a diverse kind of attention.
They challenge our most common habits of viewing photographs. The intent is flipped to the viewer. The drama plays out within the frame. It's not about a view of the external world. It used the camera and photographic technology as a starting point governed by specific rules of the medium and channeled with explicit codes. These photographs are asking questions, not answering them.
The work serves ideas independent of photography.
